Seven Pioneer National Honors Society students received cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training from Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority (REMSA). Kathleen Bobula-Salazar, Brooklynn Case, Ashley Ellis, William Houk, Kylee Krause-Mays, Vanessa Tran and Maggie Uzzell all earned CPR certification through a class in Reno.

This week the senior in the spotlight is Madelyn Monson. Maddie is an excellent student and a dedicated athlete with expectation of world travel. Maddie’s academic record speaks for itself. Boasting a 5.14 weighted GPA, Maddie is in the top ten students of the senior class. She has already completed the requirements to earn her Advanced Placement (AP) Capstone Diploma by taking and passing six AP tests, including AP research and AP seminar. Yet she continues to push herself and is taking an additional six AP classes this year.

Pioneer Academy celebrated their outstanding students at a combined National Honor Society (NHS) Induction and awards ceremony Thursday, April 25, 2024. Thirty-eight students received awards for attendance, scholarship and excellence in the classroom.

The Carson City School District took time at the School Board meeting Tuesday night to recognize 22 individuals with the “Distinguished Student Award.” The student winners were selected by administrators and recognized from their respective schools as having specific qualities, skills and characteristics that distinguished them.

The Carson High School (CHS) Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) recognized Cadet Chief Petty Officer Vivi Mellow as its “Cadet of the Year” during its annual awards ceremony last Thursday in the Morse Burley Gymnasium at Carson High. The event also hosted a “Change of Command” ceremony, marking a significant transition in leadership. Outgoing Battalion Commander Cadet Commander Noah Bean handed over the reins to incoming Battalion Commander Cadet Commander Neva Mellow.

The Carson City Library’s Pedal Library will be busy delivering books to students attending summer school. Now through the end of June, the teardrop trailer pulled behind a bike will provide up to 60 pounds of books at each elementary school within the Carson City School District. The mobile library will be offering mobile wifi and charging station soon.
