A Note From Mr. Brown and Mr. Farnworth

The beginning of February is such an awesome time! We just celebrated the 100th day of school and Ground Hog Day as well…. Even if spring will not arrive for 6 more weeks, we know that state testing season has arrived! We kick off the month with the ACCESS assessment which all of our English Language Learners take. In May, all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will be taking the SBAC Assessment.  You can help at home to prepare your child by having them practice their typing skills when they have a free moment. Some helpful links you can use are: freetypinggame.net and typingweb.net these can be found in the students Google Drive, but can also be accessed at any time by the web page address.  Another way to support us with the state assessments is to please arrange your family vacations or doctor appointment’s around the testing window. It is very important that your child attends school on testing days. Please take a look at the testing schedule in this newsletter to see those dates.

Our custodial staff is doing a fantastic job of disinfecting our classrooms every night to help beat the Flu bug, but if your child is not feeling well, please keep them home. This helps prevent the spread of germs.

As we start to head into spring please remember that the mornings can be brisk and the afternoons are warm and beautiful, which leads to our students leaving jackets and sweatshirts all over the playground. Please make sure to label your child’s clothing and check out lost and found if you are missing any clothing items.

Our construction project is coming along nicely. With the cooperation from Mother Nature, the roofs are on and the inside work has begun. We have been told that we are shooting for completion by the end of March. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

Again, we want to thank you for your support and we hope that your child’s educational journey has been a positive one.
